Okay, so I'm sitting here in one of the cafeterias on campus. Neither of them has even one microwave available to students. Now, this is a commuter college, none of us students live on campus, we have to either pay the cafeteria prices, or bring food from home. Most of the time, I go ahead and pay my five bucks for an iced tea and baked potato. But a thoughtful family member bought me some of those healthy choice things, so I figured I'd bring them and attempt to save a bit of cash.
So, I get to the cafeteria in the math/science/commons building. No microwave, which I expected. I go up to the counter and order my large tea, and ask if there's any way they could put a little bit of water in my healthy choice thingie and pop it in their microwave for just a couple minutes. The answer? No, Board of Health regulations don't allow it. Apparently, taking a sealed, never opened container of dry rice and cooking it in the microwave is a serious health risk.
I really don't get it. Maybe someone else does, and can explain the horrible danger that healthy choice teryaki chicken over rice poses?
