The current project that we are working on for my Desktop Publishing class (InDesign) is a tri-fold pamphlet. The instructor gave us the freedom to make the pamphlet about whatever we wanted to, and to use whatever images and text we needed to, so long as we cited where we got them.
I figured that if I'm going to be doing a brochure as a project, I might as well try and make it useful as well, so I got in contact with my dad to ask if he would be able to use a tri-fold brochure. He is a Competitive Intelligence Consultant, and I figured he'd be able to use it either at business conferences or as a mailer. Not only did he send me the information and images he'd been planning to use for a mailer that he never got around to mailing, but he also suggested that if it comes out well, he'd be willing to send a bit of cash my way for them. Now, I wasn't looking to make money off of doing this for him. I had actually just been thinking that it would make a nice item to include in a portfolio, and that the word of mouth he could give me might be helpful. But I'm not going to complain about a little extra money heading into the holidays.
