Weekend Update, Oct. 3rd

Well, finally there's some real tangible progress. The Pell disbursement came in today, so I was able to drive down to Best Buy to get my shiny new computer. I also picked up a router so that when I'm with the kids, I don't have to kick them off of the computer in order to work on my homework. I'm still going to need to buy my adobe software, but other than that, I'm pretty well set for the rest of the semester.

The car is also managing to stay running, which is pretty much a miracle. I should be able to pay for the next six months worth of insurance, so that will be one less thing to worry about. I've just got to send off for my birth certificate, then I can turn in my application at the Housing Authority, and hopefully get off my aunt's couch and into a place of my own.

Still no word on any of my job applications. I did get a sort of answer on the work/study jobs. Apparently, there's no telling when the various departments are hiring, so there's no way to figure out if they're wanting to hire me or not. So basically, I can't count on anything coming from that.

Overall, though, it's a fairly good weekend, and I've made some decent progress toward what I need to get done. Now if I can just get caught up on the homework I fell behind on while I was worrying over all this other stuff.
