Today was my son's seventh birthday. Since he lives with his father, I didn't get to see him until he got home at five. I took him to McDonalds so that he could have a happy meal. I did not eat, though, as I've got two teeth needing pulled, one of which has an exposed nerve.
Spent the morning in at the local dental school, getting told that I'll have to have $160 up front, or they'll flat out refuse to treat me. Standard policy. They then gave me a prescription for antibiotics, and one for painkillers. Not that I can afford the painkillers. Dentists really could care less about anyone who isn't insured and rich.
So, after I left the dentist, I spent eighty bucks on the sticker for my car, and then went over to the ex's, figuring that if nothing else, he'd be a sympathetic ear for me, like I've been to him every time he's broken up with one of his girlfriends. Yeah, right. Not only did he spend the entire time texting with his girlfriend while he pretended to listen, but made it quite clear that the ONLY reason he gives a shit about me is because of the kids, not out of any actual concern for me.
But I got to watch my son enjoy a happy meal, and I got to play video games with him for the evening. That's all that matters.

ReplyDeleteI am a single mom also raising two kids on my own. My ex refuses to help financially, has stopped visiting his kids, and has done quite a few vindictive things against me. So, I understand. You are a Mother, with a great goal. It will get better. Stay Strong!

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the dentist. I had that experience growing up with crappy insurance.
