The semester began this past Tuesday, and I've spent most of the week trying to get everything squared away to get a decent start of things. My schedule so far looks like it'll be pretty interesting. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have Graphic Design from 1 to 2:30. Starting in March, I'll also have a PowerPoint class in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mondays and Wednesdays are going to be much more challenging. I start out with Web Design at 9 am, which would normally run until 10:40, but the instructor (my advisor) is letting me out at 10 for my next class, Ceramics, which runs from 10 until 12:30. So far, I've come up with another conflict that is not nearly so easily resolved, because my final class, Drawing, starts at noon, and the ceramics teacher is not willing to let me go even a tiny bit early to accomidate. I talked it over with the drawing teacher, as I'm not wanting to give up either class if I don't have to, and he said that he would speak with the ceramics instructor about the situation to see what we can work out. So I will have to wait until Monday to figure out what is going on with that class.
I went ahead and bought all the supplies needed for both classes. I figure that there's no point in sitting around waiting before preparing for class. If they are able to help me work out a compromise, waiting would be shooting myself in the foot, as I need ever spare second to make sure not to fall behind in either class. So, I caught a ride down to the craft store, and dropped $150 on art supplies between the two classes.
As if that wasn't going to be challenge enough this semester, my car died last Friday, and the family friend who usually works on it has declared it to be "toast" and "not worth bothering with". I, of course, intend to get someone else to look at it for a second opinion, but since the guy came out to look at it, the weather has been awful, so we have to wait for a decent enough day for the other guy to come have a look. I hate not having my car, because it reduces how much I am available to my kids. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the guy who we're having come look at it is able to fix it.
